The study of the influence of tuck of one layer of a double tuck knit on the size, shape and disposition of the loops of the opposite layer is the goal of this paper. The overall picture of their interaction has been clarified and the obtained rules has been illustrated by new structure creation. Methodology. The common positions of the theory of knitting and the structure formation of the weft double knitted fabric, the mechanic of flexible thread, and also the methods of geometric models have been used for this research work. The weft tuck knits have been divided according the alternation of the loops and the tucks in the course. Behind this feature, it was proposed to divide the tuck knitted structures into simple and patterned. In a simple tuck knit, the specified alternation is absent: its courses are formed exclusively tucks or exclusively loops. In the patterned knit, there is an alternation of loops and tucks. The mechanics features of an interaction between loops and tuck stitch in weft double knitted structures have been revealed. The effect of this interaction on the appearance of the knitted fabric surface is shown. The new double tuck knitted structure with improved surface optics has been developed. Scientific novelty. It is shown that it is possible to obtain structural effects in the one layer of loops based on patterned weft tuck double knitted structure with the placement of tucks in opposite layer of the structure. It is not only the zigzag loop wales (without shifting one needle bed relative to another), but others also, which are based on the unfolding of loops relative to the fabrics surface in addition to the inclination ofloops as well as different size and shape of the loops. The knitted fabric of double tuck interloping with an alternating optical effect was developed at the patent level. Practical value. More e layer due to the interaction of their structural elements as well as an expansion of the pattern possibilities of tuck structures are the practical value of this research.
