Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of art textile as a sphere of creative experimentation of contemporary clothing and accessories designers in the context of interaction between traditional crafts and innovative artistic practices. The focus is placed on the relationship between classical textile techniques and contemporary design methods that contribute to the formation of a new aesthetics of materiality and expand the boundaries of design. Particular attention is paid to the use of unconventional materials in the creation of art textiles, including experiments with recycled materials, synthetic components, and combined textures that contribute to the development of innovative design solutions.

Special attention is given to weaving techniques and their contemporary transformations, including manipulations of interlacements, three-dimensional structures, and the reconstruction of traditional approaches actively applied in clothing and accessories design. The role of hand-made textile practices, including appliqué and textile collage, embroidery, batik, patchwork, and original prints, is analyzed as a means of creating an individualized artistic language of contemporary fashion. It is determined that the combination of traditional and experimental techniques contributes to the reinterpretation of clothing as a wearable art object, in which material functions as a means of conceptual expression.

The practical application of art textile methods in fashion design is demonstrated through examples from the creative practices of contemporary international and Ukrainian designers. It is emphasized that the integration of craft technologies with innovative materials and authorial experiments contributes to the formation of current trends in clothing design at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The results of the study can be applied in art studies, design education programs, and the professional practice of clothing designers.
