Publication ethics and editorial policy of the publication
The journal “Industry of Fashion. Fashion Industry” adheres to internationally recognized standards of publication ethics and research integrity and follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All participants in the publication process — authors, reviewers, and editors - are required to comply with these principles to ensure the quality, reliability, and transparency of scholarly publications.
Open Access Policy
The journal “Industry of Fashion. Fashion Industry” is an open-access journal: viewing, reading, downloading, and printing are free of charge. The editorial board supports the principles of free dissemination of scientific information and global knowledge exchange for the benefit of societal progress.
Principles
The editorial policy is based on:
- objectivity and impartiality in the selection of manuscripts for publication;
- high standards for the quality of scientific research;
- mandatory peer review of all articles;
- collegial decision-making in publication processes;
- accessibility and prompt communication with authors;
- strict adherence to copyright and related rights.
PUBLICATION ETHICS
The editorial board of “Industry of Fashion. Fashion Industry”, published by the state higher education institution “Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design”, maintains strict standards for the selection and acceptance of manuscripts submitted to the journal.
Ethical Obligations of the Editorial Board
- The editorial board is responsible for the publication, scientific quality, and integrity of the journal.
- All submitted manuscripts undergo careful selection and peer review. The editorial board reserves the right to reject or return manuscripts for revision. Authors are required to revise manuscripts according to reviewers’ or editors’ comments.
- Editorial decisions are based on:
- methodological validity and reliability of results;
- the contribution of the research to the relevant field.
- Editors evaluate manuscripts regardless of authors’ gender, nationality, affiliation, or other personal characteristics.
Editors ensure:
- confidentiality of submitted materials and related communications;
- impartial and objective peer review;
- timely communication with authors and reviewers.
Editors are not permitted to use unpublished materials for personal research or gain.
In cases of suspected academic misconduct (including plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication), the editorial board initiates an investigation in accordance with COPE guidelines and may reject the manuscript or take other appropriate actions.
In the event of a conflict of interest, editors must recuse themselves from decision-making.
- The journal ensures transparency of editorial processes and publishing activities. Information published on the journal’s website (including editorial board composition, peer review procedures, and policies) must be accurate, up-to-date, and verifiable. Editorial decisions are made independently of any external influence, including commercial, political, or institutional pressure.
- The editorial board may reject a manuscript without peer review if it is deemed outside the journal’s scope.
- The journal strongly opposes falsification, plagiarism, simultaneous submission to multiple journals, redundant publication, and misrepresentation of authorship contribution.
- The editorial board reserves the right to retract published articles if violations of rights or academic ethics are discovered. In such cases, both the author and the institution where the work was conducted are informed.
- Editors and editorial staff must not disclose manuscript content to any parties other than those involved in the review process. After acceptance, articles are published in the journal and made available on relevant electronic platforms.
- In accordance with international copyright law, journal materials may not be reproduced in whole or in part in any form (electronic or print) without prior written permission from the editorial board. Proper citation is required when using published materials.
- Editors, authors, and reviewers must disclose any interests that could affect their objectivity, including intellectual, financial, personal, political, or religious interests.
- The journal is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the scientific record. In case of post-publication errors or violations, corrective actions are taken, including retractions, corrections, or expressions of concern.
- This policy may be updated in accordance with changes in international publishing standards and national legislation. Updates take effect upon publication on the official journal website.
Ethical Obligations of Authors
Authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their research and must:
- ensure manuscript originality and proper citation of sources;
- avoid plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and duplicate publication;
- refrain from simultaneous submission to multiple journals;
- properly acknowledge contributions of other researchers.
Authorship must reflect actual scientific contribution. All individuals who made significant contributions must be listed as co-authors, while those who did not participate in the research must not be included. The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial office and confirms that all co-authors approve the final manuscript. Authors must promptly inform the editorial board of any significant errors discovered after publication and cooperate in corrections or retractions.
Authors bear full responsibility for the content and publication of their work.
Authors must cite all publications that significantly influenced the research and properly reference all essential sources and materials used in the study.
Plagiarism and republication of previously published work are strictly prohibited. Authors are responsible for such violations.
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of their results.
All sources must be properly cited, and references must be formatted according to DSTU 8302:2015.
The editorial board reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with journal requirements.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Peer review is a fundamental component of the publication process. Every researcher is expected to contribute to the peer review process.
- The Editorial Board reserves the right to appoint an additional independent reviewer if necessary.
- Reviewers must provide an objective assessment of the quality of the manuscript and determine whether it meets scientific and academic standards. Reviewers should respect the intellectual independence of the authors.
- All members of the Editorial Board act as reviewers.
- Manuscripts submitted for review must be treated as confidential documents.
- Reviewers must provide well-reasoned and substantiated evaluations.
- Reviewers should notify the editor of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under consideration and any other published work or submitted manuscript.
- Reviewers are expected to complete their reviews in a timely manner.
- Reviewers must not use or disclose unpublished information contained in the submitted manuscript without the explicit consent of the author(s).
