In the modern world, the social responsibility of higher education institutions in the educational services market is becoming increasingly relevant, as society demands more than just quality education from educational institutions. There is an increasing expectation for active participation in addressing social issues and ensuring sustainable development. The hypothesis of this article is that the development and implementation of conceptual foundations for social responsibility can have a positive impact on the activities of higher education institutions and contribute to sustainable societal development. The objective of this article is to justify the principles of conceptual foundations for social responsibility of higher education institutions in the educational services market and their significance in achieving sustainable development. To achieve the stated objective, this article employed methods such as literature review, synthesis and systematization of scientific information, analysis of legislation and documents related to social responsibility. The analysis has substantiated the principles of conceptual foundations for the social responsibility of higher education institutions. The research has shown that the implementation of these principles in the activities of educational institutions contributes to improved interaction with society, the development of students as active citizens, and ensures the sustainability and effectiveness of the educational process. These results underscore the need for further development and implementation of social responsibility principles in higher education institutions to achieve sustainable societal development. Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that the developed principles of conceptual foundations for social responsibility represent a significant step towards aligning the activities of higher education institutions with sustainable development goals and addressing social issues. To further advance this field, it is recommended to conduct empirical studies to assess the level of social responsibility in higher education institutions, analyze the impact of implementing these principles on the effectiveness and quality of the educational process, and examine the influence of social responsibility on institutional rankings and competitiveness.
