To investigate the process of upcycling as a tool for implementing the principles of circular economy and sustainable development in the work of modern designers. The study used a complex of general scientific (analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization), special design (formal-stylistic and structural analysis, typology, content analysis), as well as environmental (life cycle assessment) and empirical methods, which provide a comprehensive
study of the principles of upcycling as a tool of sustainable fashion, which made it possible to formulate During the research, the practices and concepts of upcycling in the creative work of modern designers were systematized, their socio-cultural and environmental significance was assessed. The results of the study contribute to the formation of practical recommendations for integrating the principles of circular economy into the modern fashion industry, increasing its social, economic and environmental efficiency; provide an interdisciplinary basis for further scientific research in the field of sustainable fashion and eco-design. It consists in a systematic analysis of upcycling techniques and concepts used by modern designers as a tool for transforming the fashion industry in the context of the destructive impact of fast fashion and the crisis of overproduction. The study systematizes the social, cultural and environmental prerequisites for the emergence of upcycling, which allows us to determine its role in the transition from a linear production model to a circular economy in the fashion industry. It consists in the possibility of using the analysis of upcycling techniques and concepts to create clothing collections aimed at reducing textile waste and optimizing resource use. The generalized principles of upcycling can be applied both in professional design practice and in the educational process when teaching eco-design and sustainable development disciplines.
